Fondo Semillas is a feminist fund in Mexico that believes in the transformative power of organized girls, women, trans* and intersex people. Supporting and accompanying their journey to build fairer, freer and happier realities for them and their surroundings is their reason for existing. For 33 years, Fondo Semillas has been mobilizing resources, and providing them to organizations, networks and collectives. It accompanies them so that they and the movements in which they participate are strengthened in order to sustain life from an equality and justice perspective.
Why Fondo Semillas?
- Because in Mexico, 77 pregnancies per thousand are among girls and adolescents, many of them due to rape, others due to lack of information and access to contraceptives.
- The life expectancy of trans women in Latin America is only 35 years due to hate crimes!
- Women earn 34% less than men in the workplace, even though they perform the same functions and have the same professional training!

How do Fondo Semillas work?
Fondo Semillas supports groups of women, trans* and intersex people so that they can work freely and safely. They are the ones who identify the problems they face in their environments, and thus propose the pertinent strategies and actions to address them. By providing flexible financing, accompaniment, and capacity-building programs, they empower marginalized groups to identify and address the challenges they face. Through their commitment to self-care, collective care, and collaboration with networks and alliances, they strive for a future with more equality and justice.
Why I chose this foundation and motivate my clients to give a donation is simple: Because of its impactful work in empowering marginalized communities and advocating for social change on multiple fronts, from gender rights to environmental justice and beyond. A donation is not just an investment in a cause; it's a commitment to building a more equitable and sustainable future for all.
